An example of using a temporal median maximum distance filter on the spatially aligned portrait virus image stack.

What is this project about?

All of the images posted on this blog are visual mutations derived from original art images created by Studio Artist user Michael Wright as a part of his Portrait Virus project.

The mutations shown here generated by John Dalton are all based on the notion of stack filtering. 'Stack' refers to a stack of images, in this case the collection of portraits Michael generated during his Portrait Virus project. So I'm mutating Michael's original Studio Artist generated portraits via additional processing in Studio Artist to create new imagery. Each mutated image is derived from multiple original portrait virus images, so a series of portrait images (the stack) gets processed to generate a single mutated output image. Stack filtering is an example of taking temporal video processing effects and running them on stacks of images as opposed to processing video files.
